Welcome to Quarry Hill Church
As you enter Strangford village, you cannot miss the landmark church perched on Quarry Hill, overlooking the bay. Saved from ruin and lovingly restored by its local owners, this historic building has been sympathetically converted into stunning five-star self-catering accommodation, accredited by Tourism Northern Ireland.
Passing through the original wrought iron gate and stone steps, you arrive at the striking blue classical façade of the church. Inside, the stone vestibule floor—worn by countless footsteps since 1846—opens into the sanctuary: a breathtaking, light-filled space with double-height ceilings, ornate plasterwork, wooden panelling, and towering Georgian windows.
The open-plan sanctuary is the heart of the church, with four zones for guests to enjoy: a modern high-specification kitchen, a large dining area, a welcoming lounge centered around a wood-burning stove, and a cosy TV alcove with a 50” smart TV. Bluetooth speakers and superfast broadband with full coverage ensure everything you need is at your fingertips.
From the sanctuary, a staircase woven into the original pulpit leads to the mezzanine gallery with glass balustrades. This is an inviting space to relax with a book and admire views over Castle Ward Bay.
